Meet Ruth
I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Vancouver, BC.

I believe that so many of life's challenges are made harder by our discomfort and difficulty with expressing our emotions. Emotions are a very normal part of life and when we don't know how to effectively respond to them (because no one has taught us how to!), they intensify and last longer. This is why I'm dedicated to normalizing the emotions that accompany life's inevitable ups and downs and supporting others to manage them.

Searching for a Counsellor can be a difficult, intimidating and, often, awkward process - I've been there! I try to be as open, honest, and "real" with my clients as possible to ensure you feel comfortable and safe to share, no matter your background or experience. Although I may challenge you, I will not push you to do anything you're not ready for. We'll work at your preferred pace and I'll follow your lead.

I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and a Masters in Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy from Adler University. I've worked in both the public health system and in private practice for several years in a variety of Counselling roles, including working with teens and adults. My experience includes, but is not limited to, supporting those with anxiety, depression, suicide prevention and crisis response, loss and bereavement, lifestyle changes, relational difficulties, boundary-setting, communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
